Stockholm-based architects Tham + Videgård Arkitekter have designed a tree hotel located in the far north of Sweden.
This shelter consists of a light-weight aluminium structure hung around a tree trunk, a 4×4x4m box clad in mirrored glass. The exterior reflects the surroundings and the sky, creating a camouflaged refuge. The concept enables new visual experiences liminates the differences between architetecture of reality and imagination.
The interior is all made of plywood and the windows give a 360 degree view. Tham & Videgård Arkitekter designed a treehouse for two people; a large bed, a small kitchenette and bath, a living room and roof terrace. The access to the cabin is by rope ladder or rope bridge.
To prevent bird collisions, ultraviolet colour will be screen printed on the laminated glass. The colour is only visible for birds.
