Sommarnöjen develops leisure residences and complements to villa gardens in a new way. The idea is to offer small houses with great potential, designed by Sweden’s most recognized architects. These are five new houses of 15 sqm that fit into different contexts, for different needs in different places.

The micro-home that FKDA originally called a “shed” is a shed for living. It’s in response to today’s current economic climate where housing needs to be affordable and easily deliverable.
By incorporating renewable energy systems into the building, it’s possible for the dwelle.ing to achieve Zero Carbon status. They have also been careful to design and specify internal fittings and finishes that contribute to their own “healthy home” requisite, to improve air quality, cleanliness and health and safety.

“skogvaktarstuga” – a forest superintendent cabin
The forest superintendent cabin by the former architectural office Strata Arkitektur in Stockholm was announced as winner of the debutante price from the magazine Arkitektur in 2007. The cabin has a low-voice functionality and all materials are chosen with an environmental perspective. The architects want it to age with beauty. The cabin is situated in Grimeton nature reserve and has a magnificent view of the sea below.

Stockholm-based architects Tham + Videgård Arkitekter have designed a tree hotel located in the far north of Sweden.
This shelter consists of a light-weight aluminium structure hung around a tree trunk, a 4×4x4m box clad in mirrored glass. The exterior reflects the surroundings and the sky, creating a camouflaged refuge. The concept enables new visual experiences liminates the differences between architetecture of reality and imagination.

The gazebo is located on the crest of a steep rock overlooking Lake Kallavesi, in eastern Finland. The view with its rock faces covered by lichen, immense boulders moved about by glacier, pine forests and the gleaming lake below brings to mind the landscape paintings of the Finnish masters of the period of National Romanticism in the end of the 19th century.

Extension to house on Övre Gla, Sweden
This house is an extension is to an original cabin dating from the late 1800’s, located on the shore of the lake Övre Gla in the nature reserve Glaskogen in Sweden. According to Swedish building regulations it is not allowed to build along the lake shore, but an exception is made if it is an extension to an existing building. Although a maximum floor area is allowed in that case. A second priority from the building regulations is its proximity to the border of the estate. In this case the extraordinary location along a stream, this forms part of the site boundary. The building should stay 4 meters clear of the site boundary.

The Joshua Tree, an elegant steel-clad prefab cabin created by Italian design group, Hangar, can be transported anywhere and set up quickly and easily.
The cabin is a mountain refuge, with a wooden interior reminiscent of a Swedish sauna. Its small dimensions (400 sq ft) manage to squeeze in two bedrooms, a small kitchen and bathrooms. Alternatively you can customize it to suit your needs.

Suspended Spherical Treehouses
This tree house is called a ‘Free Spirit Sphere’ and is designed by Tom Chudleigh. Its an eco-friendly living quarter that was created to co-exist unobtrusively with its forest environment.
Wooden spheres are built much like a cedar strip canoe or kayak, suspension points are similar to the chain plate attachments on a sailboat and the stairways hang from a tree much like a sailboats shrouds hang from the mast.

Studiomama is based in London and owned by the designer Nina Tolstrup. She trained as a designer at the prestigious Les Ateliers school of industrial design in Paris and has a BA in Marketing from the Business School in Copenhagen.
The “beach chalet” Nina Tolstrup designed for her own family as a possibility of escaping from London-stress into green space and as a place for inspiration. At this beach in Whitstable there is a row of 25 chalets lining the beach and the plot for this little building is in the middle.

House in Arruda Dos Vinhos
This projects deals with the reconstruction of a small building in ruins in an area classified as green belt. The project uses the same materials of the ruined building (stone, earth and wood) but re-ordered: a wood structure filled with local earth (wattle and daub); the stone coming from the demolition will be used in the foundations and surrounding area. Otherwise, the architects associated natural materials (wood, earth and cork panels) with industrial ones (concrete, metal, glass and polycarbonate).

Noch heute werden Baumhäuser von Eingeborenen Südamerikas, Afrikas, Asiens und in West Papua (Neuguinea) errichtet, um den Gefahren und Widrigkeiten am Boden zu entgehen. Moderne Baumhäuser werden meist in bestehende Hotelanlagen integriert. In Europa werden Baumhäuser üblicherweise als Spielmöglichkeit für Kinder und neuerdings auch als Büros errichtet.
Die Konstruktionsweise unterscheidet sich erheblich von der anderer Bauwerke und erfordert ein tieferes Verständnis für die Werkstoffe. Baumhaus-Architektur ist ansatzweise mit dem Bootsbau/Schiffbau vergleichbar.

Die einzige Möglichkeit um den Preis gering zu halten war es, nicht ein herkömmliches Haus auf das Minimum zu reduzieren sondern als Ausgangspunkt ein Gartenhaus vom Wand- Decken- und Bodenaufbau so zu erweitern bis es bewohnbar wird.
Bei der Modifikation eines Gartenhauses ging es aber nicht darum ein rustikales Spitzdach Gartenhaus zu isolieren sondern ein modernes Flachdachhaus zu entwerfen ohne das es einen Container Charakter bekommt.

Zahlreiche Eigenschaften und Anforderungen an Minimalhäuser werden teilweise sogar besser von normalen Wohnwagen erfüllt:
multifunktionale Raumausnutzung und flexible Grundrissgestaltung auf wenigen Quadratmetern, Verwendung neuer Materialien, Konstruktionsmöglichkeiten und Technologien, sowie innovative ökologische Konzepte.
Die Reduzierung auf urspüngliche architektonische Aufgaben, wie Schutz vor Witterung und Erzeugen von Privatheit in Verbindung mit der Anforderung des mobilen Wohnens findet sich bei dem Wohnwagen YAT-A des Herstellers Knaus in einer durchaus ästhetischen Realität wieder. Verantwortlich dafür ist Prof. Peter Naumann von naumann-design, der für dieses Objekt auch mit zahlreichen Preisen gewürdigt wurde: caravaning design award 2004 / red dot award 2005 / nominee designpreis 2005 / Goldene Flamme 2006

Der “Zusatzraum” von Exilhäuser Architekten ist nicht so provisorisch wie ein Zelt, aber auch nicht so beweglich wie ein Wohnmobil: ein temporär aufzustellendes Haus. Eine Raumzelle, die sich mit wenig Aufwand “einpacken” und auf einem Tieflader zum nächsten Ort fahren lässt.
Der “Zusatzraum” ist nicht als autarkes Gebäude konzipiert, sondern bietet mit Stromanschluss und Datenleitungen die Möglichkeit zur schnellen Erweiertung eines Haupthauses, quasi als Satellit. Vorstellbar ist auch die Gruppierung mehrerer “Zusatzräume” um eine stationäre Sanitäreinheit – das Campingplatzprinzip.
